Problems in lawns in the form of diseases are a common phenomenon. There’s no running away from it. Keeping your lawn well-maintained all year-round is the best way to keep lawn diseases at bay. This article aims to give you an insight into a turf disease called “Red Thread,” which mainly rears its head between late April and mid June, and grasses most commonly affected include fescue, Kentucky bluegrass and Perennial Ryegrass. Red Thread is a fungal disease that will show up as red-pink patches (from 4″ to 2 ft. in diameter) in your lawn. It can be difficult to identify the disease, especially if you are not familiar with it. But when you take a closer look, you’ll notice the grass is in stark contrast to your normal green grass. Unlike other lawn diseases, red thread basically grows as a host on top of grass plants (that are malnourished- lacking in nitrogen) instead of smothering it.
